Student & Alumni Spotlight
I’ve learned so much about what research entails and what it takes to be a top researcher, and by writing published papers with Dr. Cerda, I was really excited to challenge myself.
I have been able to create so many connections with members of the SJU community. From my IDEAL Learning sequence, I have worked to apply inclusive leadership and professionalism in my internship position.
Dr. Nelson, Dr. Bhatt, and Beth McNamee have truly been the biggest inspirations to my current journey.
Bubba and Rio’s Great Adventure
Since 2007, two endangered black pond turtles, Bubba ’23 and Rio ’23, have been living in Saint Joseph’s Biodiversity Lab under the care of Scott McRobert, PhD, and his students. After 15 years, it’s finally time for them to make their return to the wild.
Nick Athanasopoulos ’25 interned with the U.S. Mission to the United Nations this past summer after helping Philadelphia middle schoolers craft their delegate skills for Jr. Model UN with the Global Smarts program.
Through the highly selective Emerson Collective Youth Collaborative, Aisling Nay ’25 worked at the intersection of policy and service this summer as a Civic Changemaker intern at George Washington University.
The Dirk Warren ’50 Sesquicentennial Chair position was awarded to four new faculty members in business, math and natural sciences, social and health sciences, and humanities and performing arts.
